On January 12, 2010, Haiti suffered a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 earthquake approximately 16 miles west of Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital. Of the Approximately three million people affected by the quake, an estimated 230,000 have died, 300,000 have been injured, and one million have been left homeless.

Global Action Foundation (GAF), a 501(c)3 located in Philadelphia has teamed up with a number of organizations to provide relief to Haitians, coordinate logistics, and assist in needs assessments. GAF's experience in some of the poorest areas on earth including our various community based health projects in Sierra Leone gives us a unique perspective to helping one of the biggest humanitarian projects.

Global Action Foundation (US) in collaboration with Quisequeya in Action (Haiti) have partnered and are already conducing internal assessments and UN coordinated registries of over 1,000 persons living in Quisqueya's 5 compounds and 2 orphanages.

These internal assessments will allow us to determine attitudes, needs, and perceptions that will pave the way to a smoother transition into temporary and eventually permanent housing for persons living in these camps.

We encourage you to learn more and make a contribution to the Haiti Effort by making a donation, telling a friend, or getting involved.
